Today at my screen printing shop, something pretty interesting happened. My cousin Rashaun, who’s an aspiring photographer, came to visit and asked if he could take some pictures around the shop to practice his skills.
At first, I was a bit hesitant to let him loose with his camera. After all, it is my livelihood, and I have to be careful with who I let in. But then I thought, why not give him a chance?
So I gave him the green light and he got to work. I have to say, I was genuinely impressed with the results. Rashaun is just 19 years old, but he already has a real eye for composition and lighting. He took some truly fantastic shots of the machines, the screens, and even some of the shirts we were printing.
It was great to see him in action, working diligently, and really focusing on getting the perfect shot. The best part was seeing how proud he was of the final product. He kept showing me different shots on his camera, and I could see how much effort he had put in.
I even let him take a couple of shots of me working, and they came out really well. I’m thinking of using one of them for our Instagram.
Overall, it was a great experience. Not only did Rashaun get to practice his photography skills, but he also got to learn a bit about the screen printing process. And I got to be reminded of the joy of seeing someone passionate about what they do.
Plus, the photos came out great, so that’s always a plus. I’d definitely recommend giving aspiring photographers like Rashaun an opportunity to practice and showcase their skills. Who knows, it might be the start of something great.
In all honesty, it was an honor having him around, and I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.
