After releasing our Old National Hwy (Old Nat) shirt, we were thrilled to see the demand and positive response from our community. People were excited to see a design that represented and paid respect to the culture and community of Old Nat, and it made us realize the importance of representation and preservation of culture.
This experience made me want to do more, to create more designs that represented and celebrated the southside of Atlanta, and the culture of our communities. And that’s how the idea of creating a “Southside” shirt and a “SWATS” shirt came about.
The Southside shirt is a way to represent and show pride in the entire southside of Atlanta, an area that is often overlooked and underrepresented. It features the iconic outline of the city with the word “Southside” written in bold font. The shirt comes in the colors of black and green as an ode to the African American culture that is prevalent in the southside.
The SWATS shirt is a nod to the Southwest Atlanta area and stands for Southwest Atlanta in the street. This shirt represents the communities of Southwest Atlanta, which have their own unique culture and history. The design features the iconic street sign of SWATS and comes in the color of black and yellow, representing the pride and strength of the Southwest Atlanta community.
Both shirts aim to represent the diversity and strength of the southside of Atlanta, and to bring attention to the communities that make up this area. The southside of Atlanta is often misrepresented and ignored, but it is home to a diverse group of people with a rich culture, history and tradition. These shirts aim to celebrate and bring visibility to these communities.
Additionally, these shirts are more than just a fashion statement. They are a symbol of representation, empowerment and community. It’s a way for people to show their pride for where they come from, to feel connected to their community, and to help preserve their culture and tradition.
Just like the Old Nat shirt, these designs are a way for us to tell our story and bring people together. They are a reminder of the importance of preserving and representing culture, and the power of community. We hope that these shirts will inspire and connect people from all over the southside of Atlanta, and remind them of the strength and diversity of our communities.
Overall, the success of the Old Nat shirt has inspired me to continue creating designs that represent and celebrate the southside of Atlanta and its diverse communities. These shirts aim to bring visibility to the overlooked areas of Atlanta and remind us of the importance of preserving and representing culture. It’s a way for us to tell our story and bring people together. The southside of Atlanta has a rich culture, history, and tradition, and these shirts are a way for us to honor and celebrate that.
