Growing up in the southside of Atlanta, in a city named College Park, was an experience that I will never forget. As a young black youth, I was surrounded by a community of people who were just like me, and who shared similar experiences and struggles. One of the things that made this community special was its strong sense of culture and tradition, which was centered around Old National Hwy.
Old National Hwy, ” Ol’Nat’l ” or “Old Nat” as we called it, was the heart of our community. It was where we hung out with our friends, where we went to buy groceries, and where our families handled business. It was also where we formed our identities and developed a sense of belonging. We spent countless hours walking up and down the street, stopping to talk to the vendors and shopkeepers who we knew by name, and feeling the energy of the people around us.
As we grew older, we began to appreciate the culture of OlNat’l even more. We saw how it had shaped us and made us who we are today. We saw how the vendors and shopkeepers were the backbone of our community, and how they worked tirelessly to keep it going. We also saw how the community came together during times of crisis, and how we supported each other through the good times and the bad.
That’s why we decided to create a shirt design that pays respect to the culture of OlNat’l The design features the iconic street sign of Old National Hwy and the colors of black and green representing the African American culture. We believe that this shirt is not only a way to show our appreciation for the community and the street that we grew up on, but also a way to keep the culture and tradition alive.
Every time we wear the shirt, we are reminded of the memories and experiences we had on Old Nat and how they shaped us as individuals and community. It’s a symbol of where we come from and the unbreakable bond we have with our community. It’s also a way for us to represent and make our culture visible, and to show the next generation that Old Nat is more than just a street, it’s a culture and way of life.
We hope that this shirt will not only inspire people who grew up in College Park, but also people from other communities who can relate to the importance of representing and preserving culture. It’s a shirt that tells a story and brings people together.
In conclusion, growing up in the southside of Atlanta in the city of College Park, specifically on Old National Hwy, was an experience that has shaped me in many ways and one that I will always cherish. The sense of culture and community that I found there is something that I will always hold dear, and this shirt is a way to pay respect to that culture and tradition. It is a way to keep the memory of Old Nat alive, and to remind myself and others of the importance of where we come from and the importance of representing our culture.
